Funeral services for Garry Anthony Rowland Sr., age 67, will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 10, 2018 at the Rowland Residence in Wounded Knee, SD. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by David Swallow.
Burial will be at the Rowland Family Homestead in Wounded Knee, SD.
A two-night wake service will begin with the first night starting at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the Youth Center in Wounded Knee, SD. The second night will begin at 11:00 AM at the Rowland Residence in Wounded Knee, SD.
Garry was a veteran in the U.S. Army.
Garry was born on October 13, 1951 in Pine Ridge, SD to Clarence Rowland and Cleon Ice. He made his journey to the Spirit World on September 3, 2018 at the Fort Meade VA Hospital in Sturgis, SD.
Garry is survived by mother Cleon Ice of Wounded Knee, SD; children Jolene Rowland of Wounded Knee, SD, Gaylene Rowland of Rapid City, SD, Gabriel Rowland of Yankton, SD, Sherry Rowland of Rapid City, SD, Garry Rowland Jr., Tatanka Rowland, April Rowland, and Anna Rowland, all of Wounded Knee, SD, and Danielle Greenwald of Pine Ridge, SD; sisters Victoria Left Hand and Dorothy Sun Bear of Wounded Knee, SD; brother David Rowland of Mitchell, SD; 27 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Garry was preceded in death by father Clarence Rowland; son Reuben Rowland; sister Anita Rowland; brother Patrick Rowland; and grandson Brandon Lee Rowland.
