A Mass of Christian Burial for Curtiss D. Pourier “Ho Tanka Nanwica Kciji” (Loud Voice Defends Them), age 66, will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at the Rockyford School Gymnasium with Father Edmund Yainao, S.J., officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Jerome LeBeau and Aaron DeSersa.
Burial will be at the Pourier-Black Elk Family Cemetery in Rockyford, SD.
A one-night wake service will begin at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the Rockyford School Gymnasium.
A Rosary service will be at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the Rockyford School Gymnasium with Military Roll Call and Oglala Sioux Tribe Parks and Recreation Roll Call immediately following.
Curtiss was a veteran in the U.S. Army.
Curtiss was born on January 29, 1952 in Pine Ridge, SD to Hobert and Olivia (Black Elk) Pourier. He made his journey to the Spirit World on September 4, 2018 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Curtiss is survived by children Myron Pourier Sr., Curt Pourier Jr., Cody Pourier, Angeline Barreno, Cash Pourier Sr., Natalie Pourier, Richard Christensen, and Wiley Pourier; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers Lester Pourier, Duane Pourier, and Delbert Pourier; and sisters Edna Pilcher, Lavonne Pourier-Richards, Deanna Pourier, and Phyllis Pourier.
Curtiss was preceded in death by parents Hobert and Olivia (Black Elk) Pourier; brothers Cecil Pourier, Clarence Pourier, and Dennis Pourier; sister Carol Pourier-Jacobs; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Curtiss D. Pourier “Ho Tanka Nanwica Kciji” (Loud Voice Defends Them).
