Funeral services for Kerry J. Griffiths, age 69, of Midwest City, OK will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, October 29, 2018 at Bates-Gould Funeral Home in Alliance, NE with Ed Broestl officiating.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Chadron, NE following the funeral service.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM on Monday, October 29, 2018.

Kerry passed away at the Alliance Health Hospital in Midwest City, OK from a tracheostomy failure.
Kerry was born to Collis and Ava (Diffendaffer) Betson at Chadron Municipal Hospital in Chadron, NE following her mother being flown in a ski-equipped airplane from the family farm south of Whitney, NE due to the “Blizzard of 1949.” Kerry graduated from eighth grade after attending Hardscrabble School District # 84 Dawes County, NE in May 1963. She graduated from Chadron High School in May 1967. In August 1971, she graduated from Chadron State College with a BA with a major in biology and math. Later, she received Master’s and Grand Master’s degrees at SUNY-Oneota, NY in adult occupational therapy.
Kerry married James Griffiths of Bridgeport, NE on June 14, 1968 at United Methodist Church in Chadron, NE. To this union three children were born, Patrick (Mariya) of Casper, WY, Cindy (Randy Harris) of Choctaw, OK, and Jolene of Midwest City, OK. Later came grandsons Daniel and Joseph Harris of Midwest City, OK.
Kerry's mother and grandmothers taught her sewing and other needlework at an early age. She loved to sew and even wore out several sewing machines during her lifetime. She sewed numerous outfits for family and friends, along with her daughter’s wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses. Kerry started making porcelain dolls around 1983. In 1998, she opened a doll shop where she enjoyed teaching others the art of making porcelain dolls. She enjoyed sewing numerous doll outfits and bodies for herself and others. She was a member of DAG (Doll Artesian Guild) for over 25 years. Her dolls won many awards over the years. Kerry apparently got the wanderlust from her dad as she always wanted to see what was over the next hill or around the curve. She visited all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, and Japan. Kerry loved her country and believed everyone should work to make it better. Along with the rights our forefathers fought for comes responsibilities which many people are overlooking. Her 9th great-grandfather on her mother's side came over on the Mayflower. Her 8th great-grandfather on her father's side came over with William Penn in the 1680s. Many of her family served in the military over the years, which gave her great pride. She was a Life Member of the National Rifle Association.
Kerry is survived by her husband, three children, two grandsons, two step-grandsons, sisters Diane (Ed) Broestl and Rhonda (Robert) Eddy, brother Mark (Myrna) Betson, brothers-in-law Ernest (Twila) Griffiths, Jack (Grace) Griffiths, and Bill (Susan) Griffiths, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandchild.
