Steffe succumbed to Stage 4 colon cancer on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 after a long, courageous, and painful battle.

Steffe was born on June 25, 1979 in Chadron, NE to Jerry Evans and Charmaine Uhrig. Her first outing was a weekend at Angostura Reservoir. Being close to Angostura meant many summers spent at the lake forming friendships with the “lake families” who have remained loyal friends to this day. She attended grade school in Chadron, moving to Scottsbluff in 1989 for her 5th grade year, finishing high school at Scottsbluff High in 1997. Steffe was valedictorian of her class. She worked very hard to maintain her grades, was part of REACH through high school and served as student manager for the volleyball team. Many of those friendships from high school were still very important to her. Steffe received the President’s Scholarship to Chadron State College, graduating with a Business degree in 2001. She started her career in insurance, working for Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Cheyenne, WY, before moving back to Scottsbluff in 2002 and working with her mom and State Farm until Charmaine retired 2015. Steffe continued her career with Angela Philbrick until she became ill in 2018. She belonged to National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, serving as local president and earning Life Underwriters designation. Steffe loved her work and all the clients she helped along the way as well as the many associates and friends she knew.

Steffe met the love of her life, Sean McKeehan, and his son, Hudson. They welcomed their daughter, Hadley, in 2013, truly a miracle for them. Her family was so important to her; they loved camping, baking, puzzles and many crafts! They spent family time exposing the kiddos to the many fun things of life, learning responsibility and exploring their many interests. She and Sean were officially married on August 25, 2018. They were teaching their children the love of God attending services at St. Francis Episcopal Church. God’s love was very important to Steffe; as her pain became unbearable, she sought peace with the Lord.

Survivors include husband Sean; children Hadley and Hudson; parents Jerry (Deb) Evans and Charmaine (Craig) Uhrig; brother Trevor (Jennifer); stepbrothers David (Rachael) Uhrig and Justin (Hannah) Uhrig; many nieces and nephews; and grandparents Ray (Doreen) Semroska and Avis Summerville.

She was preceded in death by grandparents Red and Pat Evans, Jerry Summerville, Patricia Semroska, and Bea Semroska.

Bridgman Funeral Home in Scottsbluff is in charge of arrangements for Steffe Michele Evans.
