Funeral services for William “Bill” Lew Koenen A.K.A. Edward Allen Murdock “Sasijiwan” Calm Waters, age 69, will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 19, 2018 at the Porcupine School Gym in Porcupine, SD. Eyapaha will be Richard Iron Cloud. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Ty Lunderman and Thomas Yellow Cloud.
Burial will be at the Eddie and Mary Iron Cloud Family Cemetery in Porcupine, SD.
A one-night wake service will begin at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at the Porcupine School Gym in Porcupine, SD.
William was born on April 18, 1949 in Ashland, WI to Edward Marshall and Betty Murdock and was adopted by Lew and Martha (Oranger) Koenen when he was 2 years old. William made his journey to the Spirit World on November 12, 2018 at Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
William was a member of the Mole Lake Band of Sokaogon Chippewa Tribe in Crandon, WI.
William is survived by wife Emily (Iron Cloud) Koenen of Porcupine, SD; children Bradley Koenen of Nashville, TN and Angela, Mark, Jeremy and Lew Koenen, all of Porcupine, SD; sisters Lisa Hendrickson of Duluth, MN, Rebecca Carol and Rachel Myron of Olympia, WA, and Jeanette Mardis Fleming of Hammond, IN; brother Terry Rogers of Hammond, IN; cousins Diane Kerr of Shakopee, MN and Debbie Nelson of Austin, TX; 6 grandchildren; and extended relatives, the Iron Cloud Family.
William was preceded in death by parents Edward Marshall and Betty Murdock; adopted parents Lew and Martha Koenen; and sister Betty Murdock.
Pallbearers will be Paul Robertson, Ted Hamilton, Dustin Baird, Pat Little Sr., Brian Hirsch, “Muggs” Cross, Gerald Iron Cloud, and Phillip Good Crow.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for William “Bill” Lew Koenen A.K.A. Edward Allen Murdock “Sasijiwan” Calm Waters.
