12/18/2018 - Antoine Black Bear Jr.
Funeral services for Antoine Dale Black Bear Jr., age 71, will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at the Wounded Knee District School in Manderson, SD with Father Edmund Yainao and Joyce Tibbitts officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Darla Black.
Burial will be at St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery in Manderson, SD.
A two-night wake service will begin at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at the Wounded Knee District School in Manderson, SD with evening services starting at 7:00 PM each night during the wake services.
Antoine was born on July 15, 1947 in Pine Ridge, SD to Antoine Black Bear Sr. and Christina Sioux Bob. He made his journey to the Spirit World on December 9, 2018 at Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Antoine is survived by nieces and nephews Phillip Black Bear, Lorilei Black Bear, Angela Black Bear, and Jovannah King, all of Rapid City, SD, Lee Black Bear of Ypsilanti, MI, Stephen King and Timothy King of Pine Ridge, SD, Maxine Mesteth and Curtis Mesteth of Manderson, SD, and Emily King of Nebraska; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Antoine was preceded in death by parents Antoine Sr. and Christina (Sioux Bob) Black Bear; siblings James Black Bear, Everette White, Antoinette Black Bear, Betty Black Bear, Verna Black Bear, and Mary Black Bear; and nephew Corwin Black Bear.
