12/18/2018 - Lavern Lynn Curry
Funeral services for Lavern Lynn Curry, age 34, will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 18, 2018 at the American Horse School in Allen, SD with Pastors Tim and Kim Wardell officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Jerome LeBeaux and Steve DuBray.
Burial will be at the Church of God Cemetery in Allen, SD.
A one-night wake service will begin at 1:00 PM on Sunday, December 17, 2018 at the American Horse School in Allen, SD with evening services starting at 7:00 PM.
Lavern was born on June 8, 1984 in Pine Ridge, SD to Albert Curry Jr. and Cecil Poor Bear. He made his journey to the Spirit World on December 10, 2018 near Sharp’s Corner, SD.
Lavern is survived by wife Tara Curry; sons Taral Curry, Ty Curry, Titan Curry, Lester Swallow, and Lane Swallow; daughters Tylee Curry and LaShae Swallow; parents Albert Curry Jr. and Cecile Poor Bear; siblings Justin (Christine) Poor Bear, Michael (Alynn) Curry, Beatrice Curry, Michelle (Roger) Mills, Julissa and Julian Poor Bear, Arrow, Colton, Shane, Cecilia, Delilah, Yamni and Mataya Curry, and Selena Red Owl; mother figure Faith Richards; father figures James Cross and Milton Bianas; granddaughter Addison Hunter; grandparents Cecil Cross, Elaine Martinez and Doug Poor Bear; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins, who he loved dearly.
Lavern was preceded in death by beloved “Granny” Darlene Poor Bear; grandparents Darwin Longman, Beatrice Tallman, Albert Curry Sr., Wauneta Lone Wolf, Clara Garcia and Angie Reyes; uncle Gino Curry; cousins Malcolm DuBray, Moses Red Bear, and Jeffrey Curry III; and brother-in-law Vinny Brewer.
Pallbearers will be Justin Poor Bear, Michael Curry, Julian Poor Bear, Leon Kills Small, Jay Doyle, Roger Mills, Sonny Tallman, Lance Christensen, Trevor Red Bear, Jerry Cross, Lester Swallow and Shayne Curry.
