Funeral services for Shirley Mae Pumpkin Seed, age 69, will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 17, 2018 at the Eagle Nest CAP Office in Wanblee, SD with Father Ron Seminara, S.J., officiating.
Burial will be at the Gethsemane Episcopal Cemetery in Wanblee, SD.
A one-night wake service with a visitation will be from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at the Pumpkin Seed Residence in Georgetown Community near Wanblee, SD. The wake service will start at 1:30 PM at the Eagle Nest CAP Office in Wanblee, SD with evening services starting at 7:00 PM.
Shirley was born on September 24, 1949 in Pine Ridge, SD to Paul Stands and Marie Walks. She made her journey to the Spirit World on December 9, 2018 at the North Suburban Medical Center in Thornton, CO.
Shirley is survived by children Annette (Stands) Red Owl, George Pumpkin Seed Jr., Paul Pumpkin Seed, Konrad Pumpkin Seed Sr., and Terence Pumpkin Seed; sisters Annie Red Elk, Gloria Cottier, Ingrid “Faye” Stands-One Feather, Cherry Chipps, and Arlene Sitting Up; brothers Jerome High Horse, Lawrence Stands, Raymond Stands, and Rennie Good Lance; grandkids Kenni, Kendra and Garrik Stands, Arthur, Sadie and Hattie Red Owl, and Brittany, Spring, Macy, Kash, and Konrad Pumpkin Seed Jr.; and great-grandkids Emanuel and Elianna Brown, Nalani and Scarlett Red Owl, and Gracyn Stands.
Shirley was preceded in death by parents Paul Stands and Marie Walks; husband George W. Pumpkin Seed; son Troy Pumpkin Seed; sisters Evelyn Stands, Kathleen Brave Heart, and Elfreda Huapapi; brothers Filmore Stands, Burnell Stands, Francis Good Lance, Leonard Haas, Kenny Lakota, and William Walks; grandkids Kurt and Simora Pumpkin Seed; great-granddaughter Evianna Brown; and great-grandparents Samuel and Lucy (Dreaming Bear) Stands and Alfred and Agnes (Between Lodges) High Horse.
Pallbearers will be Paul Pumpkin Seed, Terence Pumpkin Seed, Konrad Pumpkin Seed Sr., George Pumpkin Seed Jr., Kenni Stands, Garrik Stands, Arthur Red Owl, Kash Pumpkin Seed, Konrad Pumpkin Seed Jr. and Emanuel Brown.
