Funeral services for Sharyn Gwendolyn Gates a.k.a. Sharyn G. Iron, age 70, will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church Hall in Kyle, SD with Father Ron Seminara, S.J., officiating.
Burial will be at St. Stephen’s Catholic Cemetery in Kyle, SD.
A one-night wake service will begin at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church Hall in Kyle, SD with evening services starting at 7:00 PM.
Sharyn was born on May 30, 1948 in Pine Ridge, SD to Aloysius Gates and Teresa (Thunder Bull) Gates. She made her journey to the Spirit World on December 15, 2018 at Autumn Heights Health Care Center in Denver, CO.
Sharyn is survived by son Chris Iron and niece Sarah Watson of Denver, CO; cousin Faris Janis of Kyle, SD; aunt Mildred Thunder Bull of Pine Ridge, SD; numerous uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren; and many other relatives from Kyle, SD.
She was a resident of Denver, CO for over 50 years but had many family ties to the Pine Ridge Reservation. Her favorite hobby was making dream catchers and selling them at craft fairs.
Sharyn was preceded in death by parents Aloysius Gates and Teresa (Thunder Bull) Gates; cousin Charlie; aunt Annie Thunder Bull, and beloved brothers Roger Gates and Dennis Gates
