Funeral services for Hilda Mae Eagle Elk “Wakangli Wakiyan Zintkala,” age 42, will be at 2:00 PM (CT) on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the Spring Creek Community Hall in Spring Creek, SD with Deacon Ben Black Bear officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Kenny Stands Fast.
Burial will be provided by Spring Creek Community Cemetery in St. Francis, SD.
A two-night wake service will begin at 2:00 PM (CT) on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the Spring Creek Community Hall in Spring Creek, SD with evening services starting at 7:00 PM each night of the wake.
Hilda was born on April 26, 1976 in Rosebud, SD to Pierre’ Blue Thunder, and she was raised by her adoptive parents, Joey Eagle Elk and Victoria Eagle Elk. Hilda made her journey to the Spirit World on December 23, 2018 in Sterling, CO.
Hilda is survived by adoptive mother Victoria Eagle Elk; sons Joey Eagle Elk and Guy Eagle Elk; brothers George Eagle Elk, Percell Black Bull, Jesse J. Eagle Elk, Christopher Eagle Elk, and Cheyenne Eagle Elk; sisters Melinda Walking Eagle, Emily Harris, and Diane Eagle Elk; nephew Stetson Eagle Elk; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Hilda was preceded in death by adoptive father Joey Eagle Elk; father Pierre’ Blue Thunder; and sister Corrina Eagle Elk.
