Funeral services for Laila Leona Luxon, age 38 weeks (gestational age), will be at 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the Sioux Funeral Home in Pine Ridge, SD with Father Ed Hunt officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Eric Cross.
Burial will be at St. Paul’s Church Cemetery in Norris, SD.
Visitation services will be from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the Sioux Funeral Home in Pine Ridge, SD.
Laila was born on January 20, 2019 in Rapid City, SD to Dwight Luxon and Jonetta Gomez. She made her journey to the Spirit World on January 20, 2019 at Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Laila is survived by parents Dwight Luxon and Jonetta Gomez of Lakeview, SD; sister Alexis Ann Luxon of Lakeview, SD; uncles Miles Luxon of Lakeview, SD, Chance Gomez of Porcupine, SD and Steven Brewer Jr. of Pine Ridge, SD; grandparents Webster “Wes” Luxon and Georgia Wooden Knife of Lakeview, SD and Tana Boyd of Porcupine, SD; and great-grandparents Ben and Alvina C. Bear-Feather Earring.
Laila was preceded in death by great-grandparents Lesley “Babe” Wooden Knife, Leona “Ruth” Wooden Knife, Donald B. Luxon Sr., and Anne Knife.
