Funeral services for Verena Ellen Mesteth, age 66, will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 25, 2019 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church Hall in Kyle, SD. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Guy Dull Knife II.
 
Burial will be at the Mesteth Family Cemetery 12 miles east of Kyle, SD.

A two-night wake service will begin at 1:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday, February 23-24, 2019 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church Hall in Kyle, SD.

Verena was born on March 26, 1952 in Pine Ridge, SD to Levi Mesteth Sr. and Lizzie (Bull Bear) Mesteth. She made her journey to the Spirit World on February 13, 2019 at Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD.

Verena is survived by brothers Peter Mesteth and Daryl Mesteth; children Jayme (Jody) Mesteth, Aloysius Little Whiteman, Brad (Agnes Waters) Little Whiteman Sr., Chase Little Whiteman, Channing Little Whiteman Sr., Tristan (Tara) Little Whiteman Sr., Charles Clifford IV, Bud Red Blanket, and Sonny Red Blanket; grandchildren Caden, and Melina Mesteth, Rique Little Whiteman, Brad Little Whiteman Jr., Alex Little Whiteman, Isaiah Little Whiteman, Michael Little Whiteman, Shanice Little Whiteman, Ellen Little Whiteman, Johnny Waters, Anthony Waters, Duwanna Little Whiteman, Ohitika Little Whiteman, Shania Little Whiteman, Deandre Little Whiteman, Channing Little Whiteman Jr., Velvet Little Whiteman, Tashina Little Whiteman, Legion Little Whiteman, and Tristan Little Whiteman Jr.; great-grandchildren Layla Scott, Trevor Scott, and Kokipya White Horse; nieces Anna Mesteth, Kim Mesteth, Denise Mesteth, Lori Mesteth, Kirsten Clifford, Kristen Clifford, and Kyra Clifford; and nephews Levi Mesteth III, Daryl Mesteth Jr., Jesse Mesteth, Derek Mesteth, Chris Mesteth, and TJ Mesteth.

Verena was preceded in death by parents Levi Sr. and Lizzie Mesteth; spouse Aloysius Little Whiteman Jr.; brother Levi Mesteth II; sisters Rose Mesteth and Carol Mesteth; grandson Akicita Little Whiteman; and nephew Anthony “Hillbilly” Mesteth.

Pallbearers will be Jayme Mesteth, Aloysius Little Whiteman, Channing Little Whiteman Sr., Brad Little Whiteman Sr., Chase Little Whiteman, Tristin Little Whiteman Sr., Charles Clifford IV, Bud Red Blanket, and Sonny Red Blanket.

Honorary pallbearers will be all friends and relatives.
