Funeral services and the wake for 52-year old Donovan Louis Yankton Sr have been postponed one day by the family because of the weather.

Funeral services will now be Monday March 11, 2019, at 10:00 AM at the Porcupine School Gym in Porcupine, SD, with traditional Lakota Services by Mr. Greg Ross and Mr. Milton "Jim" Mesteth

Burial will be at the Lakota Mennonite Cemetery in Porcupine, SD immediately following the funeral services.

The two-night wake service will now be Saturday and Sunday, March 8 & 9, starting each day at 2:30 PM at the Porcupine School Gym in Porcupine, SD with evening services each night at 7:00 PM.

Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD, is in charge of arrangements for Donovan Louis Yankton Sr.

Donovan Louis Yankton Sr was born on March 7, 1966 in Pine Ridge, SD to Vernona Kills Right and Albert Yankton, and made his journey to the Spirit World on February 28, 2019 at the I.H.S. Hospital in Pine Ridge, SD.

Donovan is survived by his mother, Vernona Kills Right of Porcupine, SD; children, Donna (Jonathan Sandoval) Yankton of Denver, CO, Roxanne (Tyler) Yankton of Porcupine, SD and Donovan Yankton Jr., both of Porcupine, SD; brothers, Leonard Yankton and Chris Kills Right, both of Porcupine, SD; sisters, Missy (B.J.) Feather Earring of Porcupine, SD and Danielle Kills Right of Rapid City, SD; grandchildren, Anthony, Aliana and Jonathan Sandoval, Jr., all of Denver, CO; aunts, Alberta Kills Right of Rapid City, SD, Mary Kills Right of Porcupine, SD and Vina Yankton of Kyle, SD; uncle, Lavern Yankton of Manderson, SD; nieces, Calypso Feather Earring of Porcupine, SD and Nevaeh Torres of New York, NY; and nephew, Austin Watkins III of Kyle, SD.

Donovan was preceded in death by his father, Albert “Bowie” Yankton; paternal grandparents, Albert Yankton, Sr. and Josephine (LaDeaux) Yankton; maternal grandparents, Joseph Kills Right and Anna (Lone Hill) Kills Right; aunts, Winona “Phoebe” Running Hawk, Vina (Yankton) Colhoff and Gertrude “Gertie” (Yankton) Swain; and uncles, Albert Kills Right, Sr., Donroy Kills Right, Sr. and Lloyd Yankton, Sr.

Pallbearers will be: Lester Running Hawk, Sam Locke, Cory Good Crow, Hobart Yankton, Rick Swain, Joey Yankton, Jim Cedar Face and Zeno Little.
