Funeral services for Dale Wayne Ecoffey Sr. “Wakiyan Ob Najin,” age 55, will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 25, 2019 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Ridge, SD with Father Edmund Yainao, S.J., and Charles McGaa officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Douglas Patton Jr.

Burial will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Mission Cemetery in Pine Ridge, SD.

A one-night wake service will begin at 3:30 PM on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Ridge, SD with Rosary services starting at 7:00 PM.

Dale was born on November 9, 1963 in Odell, OR to Paul Wayne Ecoffey Sr. and Theresa Mae (Patton) Ecoffey. He made his journey to the Spirit World on March 18, 2019 in Pine Ridge, SD.

Dale is survived by children Arthur Ecoffey Sr., Theresa Ecoffey, Autumn Ecoffey, Toni Lynn Vocu, and Dale Ecoffey Jr.; siblings George Ecoffey, Paul “Jake” (Sharon) Ecoffey, Barton Ecoffey Sr., Dean (Freda) Patton, and Paulette Ecoffey; grandchildren Taysha Ecoffey, Brisayis Ecoffey, Arthur Ecoffey Jr., Aries “Baby Barnes” Corine, Delmar Apple, Darrell Mills III, and Annalyiah Mills; and special friend Joanne Steele.

Dale was preceded in death by father Paul “Barnes” Ecoffey Sr; mother Theresa (Patton) Ecoffey; brother Calvin “Sonny” Patton; paternal grandparents Lydia (Janis) Ecoffey and Edward Ecoffey Sr; and maternal grandparents George Patton and Inez (Ruff) Patton.

Pallbearers will be William “Bean” Bettelyoun, Don Bettelyoun, Paul Ecoffey III, Hobe Ecoffey, Barton Ecoffey Jr., Danny Ecoffey, Paul Goings, Shawn Patton, Clarence Dowty, Tom Cottier, Richard Patton Jr., Lyle Jack, Ken Keith, and William Pond.
