Funeral services for George Leon Eagle Elk, age 38, will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 15, 2019 at the Grass Mountain Community Center in Rosebud, SD with Father Ed Hunt and Duane Hollow Horn Bear officiating.

Burial will be at the Tatanka Paha-Eagle Elk Cemetery, Grass Mountain, near Rosebud, SD.

A two-night wake service will begin with the first night at 1:00 PM (MT) on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Hall in Kyle, SD. The second night will begin at 2:00 PM (CT) on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at the Grass Mountain Community Cemetery in Rosebud, SD.

George was born on September 27, 1980 in Rosebud, SD to Ruben Stands and Charlotte (Eagle Elk) Lopez and was raised by his adoptive parents, Joseph and Victoria (Sitting Bear) Eagle Elk. George made his journey to the Spirit World on April 6, 2019 at his home in Alliance, NE.

George is survived by daughter Dalaney Eagle Elk, sons Dallas and Declan Eagle Elk and their mother Jamie Holloway, all of Bayard, NE; adoptive mother Victoria Eagle Elk of Kyle, SD; brothers Percell Black Bull and Jesse Sr., Christopher, and Cheyenne Eagle Elk; sisters Melinda Walking Eagle, Emily Harris and Diane Eagle Elk; nephews Jesse “J.R.” Jr., Joey, Guy, and Stetson Eagle Elk and Darrell One Horn; nieces Adelle “Wiyaka” Eagle Elk-Bordeaux, Nicole “Sister” Rodriguez, Tylene, Billie Jo, and Kacena One Horn; cousins Pam, Clarissa, Bob, Michael and Georgine Eagle Elk; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

George was preceded in death by adoptive father Joseph Eagle Elk; sisters Hilda and Corrina Eagle Elk; and nephew Adrian Bordeaux.

Pallbearers will be Danny Hudson, Byron Stone, Danny Beck, Lupe Garcia, Juan Garcia, Louis Young, Kevin Long, and Tony Sanchez.

Honorary pallbearers will be Deloris Little Bull & Family, Florence Mesteth & Family, Marjorie & Sadie South Wind & Family, Joe & Trudy Jones, Roy & Anna Roy, Sherly Kaboni & Family, Andrea Kills In Water & Family, Clayton & Linda Shirt, Deanna Sheridan, Kate Kraus, and all Friends & Relatives.
