A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Helen C. Planansky, age 94, will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Hemingford, NE with Father Tim Stoner officiating.

Burial will be in the Hemingford Cemetery.

A wake service will be at 7:00 PM on Monday, May 13, 2019 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Hemingford, NE.
 
A memorial has been established for St. Bridget’s Catholic Church or the Hemingford Volunteer Firefighter’s Association.

Helen passed away on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance, NE.

She was born on August 18, 1924 in Box Butte County, NE to Joseph H. and Lillian (Kolousek) Jezek.
 
She married Vern R. Planansky on February 11, 1947 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Hemingford.
 
Helen was an avid gardener and took great pride in her flower and vegetable gardens. She loved to cook and bake and was famous for her kolaches. She also donated her time for several years as a 4-H leader.
 
She loved genealogy and worked tirelessly to finish both Vern's and her family trees, while being a resource to those who were seeking family information, even from those in the Czech Republic.
 
Helen, above all, loved her family and took great pride in her husband of 71 years, Vern, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She always welcomed people into their home and made them feel like they were part of the family. No one was a stranger to her.
 
She is survived by children Gary Planansky and girlfriend Michele of North Platte, NE, Dennis and wife Barbara Planansky of North Platte, NE, Rod and wife Deb Planansky of Hemingford, NE, and Christy and husband Steve Fischer of Omaha, NE; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Vern, and brothers Joe and Rudy Jezek.
