Funeral services for Steven Jesse Yellow Horse Jr. “Hehaka Hoksila,” age 29, will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 14, 2019 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD with Sister Barb Bogenschutz. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Mike Little Boy.

Burial will be at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Cemetery in Slimbuttes, SD.

A two-night wake service will start at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 13, 2019 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD with rosary services on Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM.

Steven was born on July 24, 1989 in Pine Ridge, SD to Steven Yellow Horse Sr. and Connie Titus. He made his journey to the Spirit World on May 4, 2019 in Rapid City, SD.

Steven is survived by mother Connie Titus of Oglala, SD; siblings Michelle (Louis) Martin of Rushville, NE, Elizabeth (Alan) Benson-Yellow Horse of Oglala, SD, Buddi (Phillip) Ward of Pine Ridge, SD, Cody and Lana Yellow Horse of Oglala, SD, Larry (Melissa) Benson of the#4 Community near Pine Ridge, SD, and Dalen White Dress of Oglala, SD; children Jessica Yellow Horse of Oglala, SD, Terrence Yellow Horse of Pine Ridge, SD, Leonardo Yellow Horse of Rapid City, SD, and Johnny Yellow Horse of Ethete, WY; grandparents Henry and Nora Brings Him Back, Velma Brings Him Back, Linda Yellow Horse, and Delbert Yellow Horse, all of Oglala, SD and Tilmer Titus of Rushville, NE; special friend Sydney Kennedy of Rapid City, SD; aunt Karen Titus of Sioux Falls, SD and Cecelia Titus of Pine Ridge, SD; uncle Donroy Titus of Oglala, SD; mother-in-law Lori Lawrence of Rapid City, SD; sister-in-law Autumn Maupin of Rapid City, SD; nieces Chloe Kennedy, Juleanna and Jordynn Martin, Bryanna Foote, Peyton and Charlee Ward, Kayden Benson, and Ashley Yellow Horse; nephews Byron Benson, Bryant Yellow Horse, Ryan Ward, Toni Yellow Horse, Carter Yellow Horse, Kaysen Benson, and Kaylen Benson; best friend “Sister Bro,” LaRissa Claymore of Rapid City, SD; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Steven was preceded in death by father Steven Yellow Horse Sr.; grandparents Ronald Yellow Horse, Yvonne Standing Crow and Matthew and Elizabeth Titus; and niece Aspen Martin.
