Funeral services for Samantha Lou Belt “Wicahpi Wiyakpah Win,” age 18, will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 13, 2019 at the Wounded Knee District School in Manderson, SD with Pastor Thomas Jernigan officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Mike Little Boy.

Burial will be at Makasan Presbyterian Cemetery in Oglala, SD.

A two-night wake service will start at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the Wounded Knee District School in Manderson, SD with evening prayers starting at 7:00 PM each night.

Samantha was born on November 3, 2000 in Pine Ridge to Leah Fire Thunder and Henry Belt. She made her journey to the Spirit World on May 7, 2019 in Manderson, SD.

Samantha is survived by mother Leah Fire Thunder of Manderson, SD; father Henry Belt of Devil’s Lake, ND; siblings William Belt of Manderson, SD, Louis Belt of White Horse Creek Community, Manderson, SD, and Casey Belt, Paul John and Mariah Running Hawk, all of Manderson, SD; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandmothers.

Samantha was preceded in death by grandparents Alphonso Belt, Sara Lou Little Soldier-Belt, Bluch Fire Thunder Sr. and Lucille Little-Fire Thunder.

Pallbearers will be Stevie LaDeaux, Juliana Labatte, Laweka Protector, Emma Belt, Kristina Looks Twice, Mary Steele, Savannah Belt, Marlene Catches, Chantelle Red Stone and Fredricka Mesteth.
