Funeral services for Melvin Louis Martin “Cetan Gleska,” age 76, will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at the Billy Mills Hall in Pine Ridge, SD with Mother Rhoda Mesteth and Father Ed Hunt officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Richard Broken Nose.

Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Slim Buttes, SD.

A one-night wake service will begin at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 31, 2019 at the Billy Mills Hall in Pine Ridge, SD with evening services starting at 7:00 PM.

Melvin was born on October 15, 1942 in Pine Ridge, SD to Roy S. Martin and Cecelia (Moose) Martin. He passed away on May 26, 2019 at Gordon Memorial Hospital in Gordon, NE.

Melvin is survived by wife of 29 years Melody A. Martin of Pine Ridge, SD; sons Melvin Martin-Adams of Parker, AZ and James Martin-Adams of Wounded Knee, SD; adopted son Dontrel Martin of Pine Ridge, SD; sisters Lema Martin of Pine Ridge, SD and Carmen Vegas of Nevada; brothers Tony Martin of Porcupine, SD, Manuel Martin of Denver, CO, David Martin of Red Shirt Table, SD, Michael Tyon of Pine Ridge, SD, and Roger Martin of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren RaeDawn Tuttle, Juno Raychel Twiss-Martin; Roy Sam Martin, and Carly Martin; and great-grandchildren Arianna, Amiyah, Drelyn, Arlen Jr., and Paul Catches III.

Melvin was preceded in death by parents Roy S. Martin and Cecelia (Moose) Martin; sister Yvonne J. Martin; daughter Melanie C. Martin; and son Richard L. Martin-Adams.

Pallbearers will be Larry Martin, Darrell Martin Jr., Leon Martin, Vince Martin, Albert Brave Jr., Cory Kootswatewa, Poncho Apple, and Francis Martin.
