Funeral services for Paula Lois Rouillard, age 42, will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Batesland, SD with Reverend Rhoda Mesteth officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Mike Little Boy.

Graveside services will be at Trinity Episcopal Cemetery in Yellow Bear, Allen, SD.

A two-night wake service will start at 5:00 PM on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at the Batesland School Gymnasium in Batesland, SD with evening services starting at 7:00 PM. The second night wake will be at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Batesland, SD on Monday, June 10, 2019 with evening services starting at 7:00 PM.

Paula was born on May 29, 1977 in Pine Ridge, SD to Owen Rouillard Sr. and Nancy (Young Dog) Rouillard. She made her journey to the Spirit World on June 3, 2019 at Regional Health Hospice House in Rapid City, SD. 

Paula was a traditional dancer and was the Denver March Pow-Wow Princess in 1992.

Paula is survived by children Aquira Lena Rouillard, Julian Owen Rouillard, and Adonis Maddox Rouillard-Caldwell, all of Batesland, SD; mother Nancy Rouillard of Batesland, SD; sisters Sherrie Rouillard and Iris Rouillard of Fort Collins, CO; brother Owen Rouillard Jr. of Ethete, WY; uncles Seymour Young Dog and Amos Young Dog of Batesland, SD, Marvin Young Dog of Apache Junction, AZ, and Myron Young Dog of Gerry Owen, MT; aunts Virginia Irving of Batesland, SD and Reverend Rhoda Mesteth of Pine Ridge, SD; goddaughter Sierra Dinsmore Rouillard of Longmont, CO; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Paula was preceded in death by son Peter Rouillard-Caldwell; father Owen Rouillard Sr.; sister Cynthia Rouillard; uncles Verdell Young Dog, Lester Young Dog, Gary Young Dog, Joseph Rouillard, Jim Rouillard, and Seymour Rouillard; aunts Irene Young Dog-Roan Eagle, Rita Rouillard, Marie Randall, and Alice Bear Killer; and grandparents Amos and Dora (Around Him) Young Dog and Peter and Sophie (Dismounts Thrice) Rouillard.

Pallbearers will be Owen Rouillard Jr., Gatlin Rouillard, Richard Rouillard, Orion Rouillard, Quentin Whalen, Dean Rouillard, Howard Little Hawk, Adrianna Rouillard, Travis Irving, and Teak Rouillard-Starr.
