Funeral services for Gladys Fern Roan Eagle A.K.A. Rosella Robinnia Roan Eagle, age 46, will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD with Sister Barb officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Ivan Looking Horse.

Burial will be at the Our Lady of the Sioux Catholic Cemetery in Oglala, SD.

A one-night wake service will begin at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD with evening prayers starting at 7:00 PM.

Gladys was born on May 26, 1973 in Chadron, NE to Roger Dale Roan Eagle Sr. and Irene (Young Dog) Roan Eagle. She made her journey to the Spirit World on June 11, 2019 at the Seattle Medical Post Acute Care Center in Seattle, WA.

Gladys is survived by children Manuella Contreras-Caravio of Denver, CO, Maria Caravio of Rapid City, SD, Julius Roan Eagle of Seattle, WA, and Arturo Jaurez Dominguez and Terrance Dominguez both of Oglala, SD; siblings Emmaline Maria Roan Eagle of Red Lake, MN, Roger Roan Eagle of Minneapolis, MN, Travis Roan Eagle and Crystal Roan Eagle both of Sioux Falls, SD, Bernadette Roan Eagle of Denver, CO, Latoya Roan Eagle of Rapid City, SD and Francelia Little John of Cherokee, NC; grandson Abraham Maldonado of Denver, CO; aunts Linda Yellow Horse, Barbara Dull Knife, Delmarie Bradfield, Angeline Roan Eagle, Trivean Roan Eagle, Claudia LaPointe, Brenda, Elizabeth and Adele Red Bull, Pam Crow, Nancy Rouillard, Virginia Irving, Simone Little Hawk, Sonia Weston, and Mona, Delores, Debra, and Connie Little Hawk; uncles Calvin Yellow Horse Sr., Alan Yellow Horse Sr., Claire and Verdell Bear Saves Life, Norton Little Spotted Horse, James Red Bull, Marvin Young Dog, Seymour Young Dog Sr., Myron Young Dog Sr., Amos Young Dog Jr., and Marvin and Howard Little Hawk; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and grandchildren.

Gladys was preceded in death by parents Roger D. Roan Eagle Sr. and Irene (Young Dog) Roan Eagle; siblings Bryan Roan Eagle and Anna Mae Archuletta; grandparents Amos Young Dog Sr., Dora (Around Him) Young Dog, Norton Roan Eagle and Anna Mae (Loafer Joe) Roan Eagle; and uncles Verdell, Lester, and Gary Young Dog and Marty, Terrance, and Gilmore Roan Eagle.

Pallbearers will be Quentin Whalen, Seymour Young Dog Jr., Claire Bear Saves Life, Calvin Yellow Horse, Greg “Grady” Yellow Horse, Alan Yellow Horse Jr., Dominic Roan Eagle, and John “Spanky” Stoldt.
