Funeral services for Jacob “Jake” Pourier “Wanbli Ska Hoksila,” age 27, will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at the Rockyford School Gym in Rockyford, SD with Father Edmund Yainao, S.J., Father Ron Seminara, S.J., and Bill White officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Dave Swallow Jr.

Burial will be at the Pourier Family Cemetery north of Sharp’s Corner, SD.

A one-night wake service will begin at 3:00 PM on Friday, June 28, 2019 at the Rockyford School Gym in Rockyford, SD with evening prayer services starting at 7:00 PM.

Jake was born on April 2, 1992 in Rapid City, SD to Bobbi Jo Pourier. He made his journey to the Spirit World on June 21, 2019 at the I.H.S. Hospital in Pine Ridge, SD.

Jacob grew up in the rural area north of Sharp’s Corner, SD. He attended Rockyford Elementary, Pine Ridge Middle School and went on to graduate from Little Wound High School. Jacob was a proud basketball player for the Mustangs.

As a young man, Jacob enjoyed playing basketball and playing Xbox games in his free time. He enjoyed riding his favorite horse, Ginger, whenever he could.

During his high school years, Jacob found the love of his life, Shayla, and they enjoyed 11 beautiful years together. During that time, they enjoyed each other’s company and raising their daughter Mila. Together they shared in the joy of welcoming their baby girl Mila Ann into the world two years ago. And together, they anticipate the arrival of their baby boy.

Jacob is survived by wife Shayla Iron Cloud; daughter Mila Ann; unborn son Jacob Jr.; mother Bobbi Jo (Leon) Janis; grandparents Dave and Karen “Tiny” Pourier, and Deloris Bear Killer; siblings Cydnee, Talisa, Shira, Shirae, Desiree, Daniel, Lauren, and Angelina; aunt Jeanette (Bob) Amiotte; uncle Len Pourier; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jacob was preceded in death by aunt Paulette Pourier; uncle Lonnie Pilcher; and cousin MacKenzie Pourier.

Pallbearers will be Bryer Cottier, John Iron Boy, Jory Weston, Alan Jealous, T.J. Iron Cloud, Larry Shangreaux, Shawn Clemmons, Adam Shangreaux, Brice Hornbeck, Brennon Montgomery, and Troy Iron Cloud.

Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Jacob “Jake” Pourier “Wanbli Ska Hoksila.”
