Funeral services for Talana Rose Elizabeth Yellow Boy “Cant’e Wast’e Win,” age 30, will be at 1:00 PM (MT) on Monday, July 1, 2019 at the Crazy Horse School in Wanblee, SD with Minister Seth Black Bear Sr. and Minister Cyrus Black Elk officiating. Family and friends will meet at Sioux Funeral Home at 11:00 AM to follow in procession to the Crazy Horse School in Wanblee.

Graveside services will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Hisle, SD.

A two-night wake service will begin at 2:00 PM (MT) on Saturday and Sunday, June 29 and 30, 2019 at the Crazy Horse School in Wanblee, SD with evening services starting at 7:00 PM each night of the wake service.

Talana passed away on June 25, 2019 in Crow Creek, SD. She was born on March 22, 1989 in Pine Ridge, SD. She attended Crazy Horse Elementary School and graduated 8th grade at American Horse School. Talana attended Box Elder Job Corp in 2007 where she specialized in Drywall and Carpentry. She was talented in many arts, such as writing poetry, writing, singing, and producing her own music videos. She was also a creative artist who loved to draw, bead, decorate cakes, and was skilled in technology. Talana was a kind and generous person who made friends wherever she went.

Talana resided in Wanblee, S.D. most of her life then moved to the Fort Thompson Indian Reservation (Big Bend & Crow Creek) in 2007 where she lived until the time of her death.

Grateful to have shared in her life are mother Tina Lamont-Black Elk; stepfather Cyrus Black Elk; brothers Reuben (Catie) Bettelyoun, Doyle Ryan Bettelyoun, and Kobe, Trey and Chase Lamont; stepbrothers Cyrus Black Elk Jr. of Wanblee, SD, Joseph Black Elk of Fort Yates ND, and Dalton Black Elk of Sisseton, SD; sisters Amelia (R.J) Bettelyoun and Kylie Blue Legs of Wanblee, SD; stepsister Arlyss Black Elk of Fort Yates, ND; grandfather and grandmother Seth and Amelia Black Bear; uncle Seth Jr.; aunts Tracy Lamont and Trish Lamont; grandmother Sandra Janis of Wanblee, SD; aunt Nikki Rae (Jay) Jacobs of Porcupine, SD; uncle Richard Ryan (Tiffany) Lamont of Kadoka, SD; grandfather Stanley Wayne Janis of Parmelee, SD; father Roger Yellow Boy; brother Cole Yellow Boy of Allen, SD; sisters Cassandra Rose Hernandez of Kyle SD, Whitney White Eyes of Eagle Butte, SD, and Skye Gutierrez of Martin, SD; paternal grandmother Pauline DuBray of Allen, SD; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Talana was preceded in death by maternal grandfather Richard Lee Lamont; maternal great-grandparents Cleve and Annie Janis; grandfathers Melvin, Nick, and Lloyd Janis; grandmothers Belva Young and Linda Red Willow; paternal great-grandparents Gordon and Martha DuBray; paternal grandfather Roger Yellow Boy Sr.; and niece Marissa Lamont.

Pallbearers will be Seth Black Bear Jr., Richard Robert Lamont, Richard Conroy, Ryan Conroy, Ronald Dull Knife, Corbin Romero, Leo Janis, Jeremy Janis, Marcus Lamont, Storm Lamont, Cole Yellow Boy, and William Young Bear.

Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Ryan Lamont, Lindall Janis, Randall Janis, Cleve Janis Sr., Darrell Janis, Stanley Young Jr., Algin Young Sr., Travis Janis, Howard Janis, Vaughn Janis, Melvin Janis, Jeffery Janis, A.J. Has No Horse, Roger Red Elk Jr., Charlotte Red Willow, Judy Red Willow, Naomi Edwards, Wayne Fire Thunder Jr., Cynthia and Nicole Drapeau, Eva Fallis and Family, Diana Harmon and Family, and all Friends and Relatives.

Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Talana Rose Elizabeth Yellow Boy “Cant’e Wast’e Win.”
