Funeral services for Harlen Ray Richards-Shangreaux, age 43, will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 5, 2019 at the LaCreek CAP Office in Martin, SD with Pastor John Poff officiating.

Burial will be at the Inestimable Gift Episcopal Cemetery in Allen, SD.

A two-night wake service will begin at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at the LaCreek CAP Office in Martin, SD with evening services starting at 7:00 PM each night.

Harlen was born on September 1, 1975 in Pine Ridge, SD to John Shangreaux and Ethelene Richards. He made his journey to the Spirit World on June 29, 2019 at his home in Martin, SD.

Harlen had a loving and generous heart that will be greatly missed. His smile and laughter will be missed by all who loved him. Lives will never be the same without him, and hearts will be forever broken.

Harlen is survived by sons Terrell, Jamal, and Sage, all of Martin, SD; brothers Michael Richards-Black Eyes, Charles Richards-Black Eyes, and John Richards, all of Martin, SD; sisters Amy Richards-Black Eyes and Rose Richards-Shangreaux of Denver, CO and Jennifer Black Eyes of Martin, SD; special friend Terri Lynn Hernandez of Martin, SD; aunt Davrine Shangreaux of Martin, SD; uncles Orville Shangreaux of Denver, CO and Jerry Richards, Duane Richards, Robert Running Bear, and David Richards, all of Martin, SD; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and grandchildren.

Harlen was preceded in death by mother Ethelene Richards; father John Shangreaux; and sister Davrine Jen Shangreaux.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Marshall, Demetric Lagunas, Daniel Bad Wound, Ronald Red Feather, James Dean Fly, Curtis Hernandez, Ryan Richards, Gordon Standing Bear, Phillip Richards, Phontayne Richards, Chris Richards, Sam Red Feather, Adam Black Eyes, Charles Black Eyes Jr., and Lester Fly.

Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Harlen Ray Richards-Shangreaux.
