Funeral services for Joseph David Twiss, age 44, will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at the #9 Community Church in Manderson, SD with the officiant to be announced.

Burial will be at the Messiah Episcopal Cemetery in Wounded Knee, SD.

A two-night wake service will begin at 3:00 PM on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at the #9 Community Church in Manderson, SD with prayer services starting at 7:00 PM each night.

Joseph was born on July 7, 1974 in Pine Ridge, SD to Thomas Frank Twiss Sr. and Roylene Irene Looks Twice. He made his journey to the Spirit World on June 29, 2019 at Hospice of the Hills in Rapid City, SD.

Joseph is survived by sons Joseph Pawnee Leggins and Anfernee Poor Bear; siblings Thomas Twiss Jr., Zelda and Zandra Running Bear, Tina, Cody, and Lana Grass, Darrell Espinosa, Sharon Iron Horse-Gill, Kayla, Ashley, and Emily Iron Horse, Jamie Looks Twice, and Michelle, Tanya, and Sherry Twiss; grandchildren Traycen, Aubriella, and Amani, all of Wyoming; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Joseph was preceded in death by parents Thomas F. Twiss Sr. and Roylene I. Looks Twice; daughter Latisha Twiss; brother Robert Running Bear; and nephew Jaylen Twiss.

Pallbearers will be John Rondeaux Sr., DonRoy Shoulders, Danny Jumping Eagle, George Respects Nothing, Reno Rondeaux, Garfield Little Dog, Kevin Steele, Byron Killsree, Josh Steele, and Virgil LaDeaux Jr.

Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Joseph David Twiss.
