Memorial services for Norma Jean (Larsen) Holzberger, age 84, of Gordon, NE will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Grace Lutheran Church in Gordon, NE with Reverend Travis Sherman officiating.

Inurnment will be held in the Gordon Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Gordon-Rushville School Foundation, and donations may be sent to PO Box 530, Gordon, NE 69343.

Norma passed away on July 16, 2019, at Alpine Village in Verdigre, NE.

Norma, daughter of George and Myrtle (Blankenfeld) Larsen, was born on May 28, 1935, at Niobrara, NE. As a young girl, Norma helped on the family farm and showed cattle in 4-H. She graduated from Verdigre High School in 1953 and later from Teacher’s College in Wayne, NE. Norma taught at Sparta Country School, Niobrara Public School, and Gordon Public School.

On March 5, 1971, Norma was united in marriage to Elmer Holzberger at the Lutheran Church in Niobrara. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Gordon and the Let’s Play Cards Club. She enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens, reading newspapers, traveling with her husband, and enjoying her pets.

Norma is survived by sister-in-law Ardith Larsen; Larsen nieces and nephews and their families Robert (GiGi) Larsen, James Larsen, Lauri (Tracy) Smith, Kris Ann (Dan) Warnke, and Mary (Dave) Duncan; and Holzberger nieces and their families Kristy (Roger) Volentine, Karol (Ed) Swotek, Dorann (Paul) Bartels, Wilda (Richard) Lyons, Myra Wilcox, and Vonda Ford.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Elmer Holzberger on December 13, 2015; mother-in-law and father-in-law Christian and Alvina Holzberger; brothers Chris Larsen and Larry Larsen; nephews Kurt and Kerry Oldenburg and Larry Larsen; sister-in-law Ruth (Bland) Oldenberg; and brother-in-law Milbert (Edna Mae) Holzberger.
