Funeral services for Darlene J. Tlustos, age 79, of Oelrichs, SD will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 5, 2019 at Prairie View United Methodist Church near Smithwick, SD, 7.7 miles south of Maverick Junction on Hwy 79.

Committal services will be at 2:00 PM at Greenwood Cemetery in Chadron, NE.

A memorial has been established for the Ardmore, SD Fire Department and the Oelrichs, SD Community Center.

Darlene passed away on July 30, 2019 at Chadron Community Hospital in Chadron, NE.

Darlene was born the daughter of William and Ramona Balfany on May 10, 1940 in South Dakota. She married Wesley D. Tlustos on August 22, 1957 in Rapid City, SD. She attended high school in Chadron, NE and the National School of Business in Rapid City, SD. Wesley and Darlene moved to a ranch south of Oelrichs, SD where she resided until her death.

Darlene was actively involved in the farm-ranch operation and served as a 4-H leader, school board member, member of the B.P.O. Does Drove 2, American Legion Auxiliary, and South Dakota Stock Grower's Association. She also participated in many community activities. Darlene was very friendly and outgoing and no one was ever a stranger to her.

Darlene is survived by husband Wesley; son Leslie of Hay Springs, NE; daughter LaVonne Hanson of Chadron, NE; son Lance of Oelrichs, SD; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
