Funeral services for Duane George Johnson “Siyo Tanka Ho Waste,” age 56, will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at the #9 Community Church in Manderson, SD with Pastor TJ Jernigan officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Mike Little Boy.

Graveside services will be at the Johnson Family Cemetery, White Horse Creek, in Manderson, SD.

A one-night wake service will be at 4:30 PM on Friday, August 30, 2019 at the #9 Community Church in Manderson, SD with evening services starting at 7:00 PM.

Duane was born on January 18, 1963 in Pine Ridge, SD to James Johnson and Myrtle (Red Breath Bear) Johnson.  He made his journey to the Spirit World on August 24, 2019 at the Cheyenne Health Care Center in Cheyenne, WY.

Duane is survived by children Duane and Eric Johnson of Cheyenne, WY, Christen Johnson of Denver, CO, and Nicole, Charles, and Martika Johnson, all of Sioux Falls, SD; 20 grandchildren; sisters Blossom Jumping Eagle of Manderson and Selma Johnson of Porcupine, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Duane was preceded in death by father James K. Johnson; mother Myrtle Red Breath Bear-Johnson; brother James “Sonny” Johnson; and nephew Jeffrey “Tuffy” Shangreaux.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Jumping Eagle Sr., Sherman DeSersa, Olivia “Honey B” DeSersa, Orlando Two Bulls, Jacob Garnier, Gerald Weasel, Alex Looks Twice, Kevin Two Bulls, and Andrew Steele.

Honorary pallbearers will be Babette Thin Elk, Donna Jumping Eagle, Russell “Chico” Mousseaux, all his Grandchildren, all his Nephews & Nieces, Maynard Cortier & Family, Lester Cortier, Pansy Two Bulls & Family, Susan Two Bulls & Family, June Two Bulls & Family, Mildred “Paperdoll” Alkier & Family, Bernice White Hawk & Family, Pinky’s Store Employees, Reggie & Brent Bear Heels, Alta, Rita, Percy, Mona, & Alex White Plume, Garf Little Dog, Danny Selby, Gina Padilla Jr. Iron Hawk, Lisa Lone Hill & Family, Wounded Knee District CAP Office, Doctors & Nurses of Cheyenne Medical Center, and all Friends & Relatives.
