Funeral services for 48-year old Shana Marie Helper are Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 10:00 am at the Re-Creation Center in Oglala, SD, with Pastor Leon Schwartz officiating and traditional Lakota services by Mr Ivis Long Visitors

Cremation will follow the services.

A two-night wake service begins Thursday, September 26 at 2:00 pm also at the Re-Creation Center in Oglala with evening services starting at 8:00 PM both nights

Shana Marie Helper was born on May 5, 1971 in Eagle Butte, SD to Pete Helper, Jr. and Gail Red Bull and made her journey to the Spirit World on September 22, 2019 at the Rapid City Regional Health Home Plus Hospice House in Rapid City, SD.

Shana is survived by her children, Jeremy Blacksmith, Tasina “Sheen” Helper, Corey ”Baby” Blacksmith, and Dani Martin; mother, Corrine Brave; sisters, Lori Bagola, Dana Chase In Winter, Sam Blacksmith, Angel Helper, Jessica Helper, and Essence Belt; brother, Jay (Felicia Ruff) Helper, Vince Helper, Douglas Kasier, Gerald Helper, Jesse Rouillard, and Gilbert Blacksmith; grandchildren, Trivean Blacksmith, Archer Blacksmith, and Zayden Helper; and special niece and nephew, Tracy “Mizarella” He Crow and JoDean “Jobeaners” Blacksmith.

Shana was preceded in death by her parents, Gail Red Bull and Pete Helper, Jr. and her grandparents whom raised her, Lillian and Pete Helper, Sr.

Pallbearers will be Harland “Wiggz” Dreaming Bear, Jr., Stephan “Bone Horse” Kills Small, JoDean “Jobeaners” Blacksmith, Donovan “Charge” Kills Small, Michael “Mother Earth” Featherman, Gilbert “Hoksila” Blacksmith, Shelden “Kelgen” He Crow; and Sheldon “Effi” Flute.
