Funeral services for Harold Schlais (SLICE), age 94, will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 11, 2019 at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron, NE with Tom Serres officiating.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Chadron, NE.
Harold passed away on October 11, 2019 in Chadron. Harold was born on January 26, 1925 in Ketchikan, AK to Alfred and Margaret Schlais. His father was a lighthouse keeper on Sentinel Island. Harold grew up in Ketchikan. When he was 18, he went to Washington State to help his mother and was drafted into the army and served in England, France, and Germany. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge. After his service he traveled to California where he worked for Lockhead for two years and then went to work for Western Airlines for 26 years. In 1970, he met and married his wife, Karen, and they had a son, Bill. In December 1984, he was able to join his family in Chadron and has resided here ever since. He is survived by wife Karen; son Bill (Eunice); two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister Dorothy of Soldotna, AK; and a host of nieces and nephews.
