Funeral services for Fermena Jeanette Feather Earring, age 63, will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the Porcupine School Gymnasium in Porcupine, SD with Father Ed Hunt and Lay Minister Anthony Wounded Head officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Ricky Grey Grass.

Burial will be at St. Luke’s Cemetery in Sharps Corner, SD.

A one-night wake service will begin at 3:00 PM on Friday, October 11, 2019 at the Porcupine School Gymnasium in Porcupine, SD with evening services starting at 7:00 PM.

Fermena was born on February 21, 1956 in Pine Ridge, SD to Benjamin Feather Earring/Conquering Bear and Alvina (Grass) Conquering Bear. She made her journey to the Spirit World on October 3, 2019 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN.

Fermena is survived by parents Ben and Alvina Conquering Bear; brothers Don Feather Earring and Melcolm Feather Earring of Porcupine, SD; sisters Verla Feather Earring of Sioux City, IA, Gerda Feather Earring of Minneapolis, MN, Shirlene Feather Earring and Millie Blue Horse of Porcupine, SD, Benita Cottier of Pine Ridge, SD, and Tana Boyd and Latoya Feather Earring of Porcupine, SD; sons Corbin Feather Earring of Sioux Falls, SD, Robert Feather Earring of Porcupine, SD, Richard Running Shield and Corley Running Shield of Minneapolis, MN; and hunka sisters Buela Weasel Bear and Arletta Weasel Bear of Rapid City, SD and Yolanda Black Bear of Pierre, SD.

Fermena was preceded in death by grandparents John Grass and Etta Weston and son Jessie Running Shield. 

Pallbearers will be Cordney Locke, Corley Running Shield, Corbin Feather Earring, Richard Running Shield, Robert Feather Earring, John Cross Dog, and Cody Janis.

Honorary pallbearers will be Abbott Hospital Staff, Curtis Jackson, Danny Bruce, Renae Bad Moccasin, Judy Barrett, Darla Bruce, Molly John, Hazel Colbertson, Pearl Iron Boy, Lauren John, Wilma Blacksmith, Alberta Horse, Mary Young Bear, Frieda Has No Horse, Iva Yellow Elk, David and Tiny Pourier, and all Relatives and Friends.
