Funeral services for 66-year old Darlene Joan Chase In Winter will be Friday, Oct 18,  at 11:00 at the Re-Creation Center in Oglala, SD, with Elder Donovan Youngman officiating and traditional Lakota services by Mr Ivis Long Visitor.

Graveside services will be at the Makasan Presbyterian Cemetery in Oglala, SD.

A one-night wake service will be at noon on Thursday, Oct 17, at the Re-Creation Center in Oglala, SD.

Darlene Joan Chase In Winter was born on June 13, 1953 in Pine Ridge, SD to William Webster Chase In Winter and Martha Goldie (Dog Trail) Chase In Winter.  Darlene made her journey to the Spirit World on August 10, 2019 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD.

Darlene is survived by her sisters, Beverly Corbine of Rapid City, SD, Genevieve “Ducky” (Elton) Chase In Winter of Oglala, SD, Yvonne “Wendy” (Manuel) Chase In Winter of Pine Ridge, SD, Karen White Butterfly of Manderson, SD, and Joyce White Butterfly of Pine Ridge, SD; brother, Donovan Chase In Winter; children, Emerald (Jim) New Holy, Darren, Damian, & Delbert New Holy, Juliet (Sonni) White Eagle, and Mary Two Bulls all of Oglala, SD; grandchildren, Candida, Mitchell, Tesia, Robin, and Jordan Bagola all of Oglala, SD, Brevin & Darlaina Boyd of Crandon, WI, Lebron, Sunny Renee, & Amare White Eagle all of Oglala, SD, Haylee, Dallas, & Austin New Holy of Minnesota, and Ta’sina & MaTyus New Holy both of Oglala, SD; great grandchildren, Quentin Rouillard, Koetay, Braylon & Hayelan Dreaming Bear, Jaycie Star Comes Out, Aubree Bagola, Rylah Bagola, Nicholas New Holy, Derrick & Peyton New Holy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandkids.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Verdell Eagle Hawk; parents, William and Martha Chase In Winter; brothers, Roy, Willard, Bernard, and Darnell Chase In Winter, and Lester, and Philbert White Butterfly; sisters, Cheryl and Diane “Sister Babe” and Fayth “Bonnie” Plenty Arrows; and step-mother, Frances Ice.

Pallbearers will be Elton Eagle Louse, Jim Two Bulls, Sonni White Eagle, Mitch Bagola, Jordan Bagola, Brevin Boyd, Quentin Rouillard, and Lebron White Eagle.

Honorary pallbearers will be Connie Ten Fingers, Denise Ten Fingers & Family, Sylvia Tobacco, Marlene Backs, Violet Ten Fingers, Freida Patton, Diane Iron Bird, Veronica Jones, Val & Marv Janis, Hilda Kills Small, Ivis Long Visitor, Calvin & Alan Yellow Horse, Donovan “Charge” Kills Small, Renny Good Lance, Dr. Raymond & Mary Kay, and All Friends & Relatives.
