Funeral Services for 67-year old Marlene Estelle Blacksmith of Oglala, SD, will be Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 10:00 am at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD, with The Revs. Robert Two Bulls and Twila Two Bulls officiating and tradition Lakota services by Mr Ivis Long Visitor, Mr Ricky Grey Grass, and Mr Ron Cross Dog
Graveside Services will be at the Poor Elk Family Cemetery, Oglala, SD
A one-night wake service will be held Tuesday, October 22, starting at 11:00 AM at Brother Rene Hall in Oglala with evening services at 7:00 PM.
Marlene Estelle Blacksmith was born on July 3, 1952 in Oglala, SD to Major Jacob Poor Elk and Eliza Good Voice Flute. Marlene made her journey to the Spirit World on October 14, 2019 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Marlene is survived by her daughters, Lenora Blacksmith and Karen Blacksmith; grandchildren, Angela Bad Heart Bull, Airik Bad Heart Bull, William Blacksmith, Jacynda Blacksmith, Sheldon Flute, Jason Flute, Hoksila Blacksmith, Kaymie Blacksmith, and JoDean Blacksmith; and great grandchildren, Amare Bad Heart Bull, Cassidy Bad Heart Bull, Grayson Bad Heart Bull, Novalyn Flute, Mylieh Blacksmith, Ashley Blacksmith, and Ronessa Blacksmith.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth “Eliza” Good Voice Flute and Major Jacob Poor Elk, Sr.; spouse, Kenneth Blacksmith; siblings, Pauline Poor Elk, Russell Poor Elk, Wilma Poor Elk, Margaret Poor Elk, Chester Poor Elk, Clarabelle Poor Elk, and Jacob Major Poor Elk, Jr.; and sons, John Blacksmith and Robert Blacksmith.
Pallbearers will be Brian Starr, Frank Starr, Stan Blacksmith, Orin Morrison, Harold Good Voice Flute, Jr., Filmore He Crow, Jr., Fred Brings Him Back, Jr., Roger Brings Him Back, Alton Adams, and Ronald Cross Dog.
