10/19/2019 - Thomas Victor Shangreau

 Memorial Services for 67-year old Thomas Victor Shangreau of Rapid City will be held today, Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 10:00 at the Woyatan Lutheran Church in Rapid City, SD with Minister Jonathan Old Horse officiating and traditional Lakota services by Mr Merle Left Hand Bull

Private graveside services will be held at a later date

Thomas Victor Shangreau was born on August 10, 1952 in Alliance, NE to Hazel Margaret Randall and William Fred Shangreaux.  Thomas made his journey to the Spirit World on October 14, 2019 at his home in Rapid City, SD.

Thomas attended St. Paul's Indian School and graduated from Santa Fe School of Art in 1970 in Santa Fe, NM.  He attended Black Hills College and completed Iron Worker's Training in Chicago, IL.  Thomas lived and worked in the following state: Oregon, Colorado, Minnesota, Illinois, Florida, and South Dakota.  His last place of residence was in Rapid City, SD.  He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and sang in the choirs at St. Basilica of Saint Mary in Minneapolis, MN.  As an uncle he was very compassionate and was always willing to help when he was able.

Thomas is survived by his siblings, Geraldine Shangreaux, Rita Shangreaux, Leona Richards, and Barbara Ann Smith. 

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel Randall and Fred Shangreaux; siblings, Franklin Little Killer, Deloris Standing Soldier, Mabel Lee Shangreaux-Costello, Lincoln and Charity Shangreau; and his longtime friend, Jan Walters.

Pallbearers will be Rudolph Richards, Ralph Richards, Malcolm McDonough, Randy Rubio, Reginald Little Killer, and Michael Standing Soldier.

Honorary pallbearers will be all friends & relatives.

Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD, is in charge of arrangements for Thomas Victor Shangreau
