Funeral services for 41-year old Melvin Dean Black Feather are Friday, Nov 8, 2019 at 10:00 at Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, S.D. with Apostle Pedro Sharpfish officiating

Graveside Services will be at the White Magpie Family Cemetery, Oglala, SD

A one-night wake service will be Thursday, Nov 7, 2019 starting at 10:30 AM, at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD with evening services starting at 7:00 PM.

Melvin Dean Black Feather was born on October 30, 1978 in Pine Ridge, SD to Vincent Black Feather and Dorothy White Magpie.  Melvin made his journey to the Spirit World on November 1, 2019 in Sagle, ID.

Melvin is survived by his father, Vincent Black Feather of Kyle, SD; brothers, Harvey Little Brave of Ashville, NC, Quentin Little Brave of Sagle, ID, Mark Bear Dog, Jr. of Spokane, WA, Virgil Black Feather of Pine Ridge, SD, Vincent Black Feather, Jr. of Rapid City, SD, Viron Black Feather of Pine Ridge, SD, and Vine Black Feather of Belcourt, ND; sisters, Ruby Bear Dog of Spokane, WA and Cheryl Lynn Black Feather of Wanblee, SD; hunka mother, Faye Charging Thunder of #6 Community, Oglala, SD; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, & grandchildren.

Melvin was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy White Magpie; brothers, Dusty Black Feather and Leo Black Feather; and grandparents, George and Rose (Blacksmith) White Magpie, and Pete & Jessie Blacksmith.

Pallbearers will be Teton Lakota, Brian Kindle, William Makers Him First, Clay Leonard, BJ Brave Heart, Thomas Blacksmith, Dee Blacksmith, and Elgin Bad Heart Bull.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Little Brave Family, Bear Dog Family, Weston Family, Yellow Horse Family, White Magpie Family, Morrison Family, Blacksmith Family, Fedelia Cross & Family, Mary Ann Poor Bear, Philomene Lakota, American Legion Post 281, and All Friends & Relatives.
