Funeral services for 77-year old Duane George Bordeaux of Rushville will be Saturday Nov 16, 2019, at 10:00 AM at the St. Charles Catholic Church in St. Francis, SD, with Sacred Heart Catholic Church Deacon Be Black Bear Jr and Father Jim Lafontaine officiating

Traditional Lakota services will be by Mr. Edson Briggs Jr

Graveside services will be at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, St. Francis, SD

A two-night wake service began Thursday, Nov 14, and resumes Friday, Nov 15, at 3:00 PM CT at the Veterans Center in Rosebud, SD with Rosary services at 7:00 PM, CT.

Duane George Bordeaux was born on November 29, 1941 at home in Rosebud, SD to Clarence Bordeaux and Louise (Warden) Bordeaux. Duane made his journey to the Spirit World on November 9, 2019 at the Advanced Care Hospital in Billings, MT.

Duane spent his early years in Rosebud, SD until his family relocated to Pine Ridge, SD where he met his wife, Emma Rowland. Duane worked in construction and at the Pine Ridge School Kitchen. 

Duane was an avid sports fan. He loved to watch NFL and NBA games and the especially enjoyed watching the Notre Dame "Duke". His favorite teams were the Denver Broncos and the Cleveland Cavaliers. One of his favorite players was Lebron James. He also enjoyed watching the Indian Relay Races. We would always joke with him about "making the day money" at rodeos and he would respond with, "What's that? Picking up the cans?!" Duane had a great sense of humor and will be dearly missed.

Duane is survived by his children, Madonna Rae Bordeaux, Benton (Rhonda) Bordeaux, Kenneth (Monica) Bordeaux and Anna (Essence) Kaline; sister, Lois Bordeaux; grandchildren, Kevin, Wayne, Atawnna, Antoine, Raeann, Miranda, Morris, Jr., Rachel, Kayla, Trisha, Kyle, Joy, Arlin, Lane, Candace, Monte, Brian, Dae and Shae; and numerous great grandchildren.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Louise Bordeaux; children, Duane Anthony Bordeaux, Jr. and Kevin Dale Bordeaux; and siblings, Felix, Donald, Antoine, Lester and Gordon Bordeaux, and Marjorie Gordon.

Pallbearers will be: Monte Haugen, Kenny Hill, Antoine Bordeaux, Louis Ramos, Anthony Kelly, Kyle Bordeaux, Charles Pablo, Donald Standing Soldier, Arlin Bordeaux, Ivan Standing Soldier, Brad Conroy, and Marcus Bordeaux.

Honorary pallbearers will be Rosebud Sioux Tribe, Oglala Lakota Nursing Home, Bordeaux Families, Cohen Home, Bad Milk Families, Clifford Families, Henry Lodge, Ed Two Dogs, Bement Family, Rowland Family, Little Hawk Family, Pablo Family, Ramos Family, Conroy Family, Hill Family, Big Crow Family, Kelly Family, Cook Family, Briggs Family, Andy Foote, Dreamer Family, Bookie Richards, Gordon Family, Underwood Family, Yellow Boy Family, Goings Family, Standing Soldier Family, Clairmont Family, Prue Family, Jordan Family, and All Friends & Relatives.
