Funeral services for 72-year old Filbert William Janis Sr will be Tuesday, Nov 19, 2019, at 10:00 am the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Hall in Pine Ridge, SD, with Mr Charles McGaa officiating.

Graveside services will be at Holy Rosary Mission Catholic Cemetery, Pine Ridge, SD

A one-night wake service starts Monday Nov 18, 2019 at 3:00 pm at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Hall in Pine Ridge with rosary services starting at 7:00 PM and military roll call to follow.

Filbert William Janis, Sr. was born on December 22, 1946 in Pine Ridge, SD to Hobert Janis and Ella (Ringing Shield) Janis. Filbert made his journey to the Spirit World on November 11, 2019 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD.

Filbert, Sr. is survived by his wife, Linda Janis of Pine Ridge, SD; children, Filbert Janis, Jr., Ann Marie Janis and Lillie Mitchell, all of Pine Ridge, SD, Robert Janis of Rapid City, SD, Leeloominai Sparkles of Hampton, NH and Kelly Swallow of Red Shirt, SD; siblings, Winifred Janis of Sioux Falls, SD, Wayne Janis of Pine Ridge, SD, Josephine Freeman of Pine Ridge, SD and Bernadine Freeman of Rapid City, SD; aunt, Mary Merrival of Pine Ridge, SD; 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandbaby; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Filbert, Sr. was preceded in death by his parents, Hobert Janis and Ella (Ringing Shield) Janis; siblings, Martin and Courtland Janis and Benjamin Freeman; and grandparents, Pete & Sophie Janis and William & Nancy Ringing Shield.

Pallbearers will be: Alan Backward, Austin Backward, Jr., Robert Janis, James Mitchell, Ron Morrison, Kobe Hollow Horn, Miguel Janis, Chance Talbot and Bill Morrison.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: All Friends & Relatives.
