Funeral services for 61-year old Antoine Benedict “Nebs” Bissonette Sr (Race Against Wind) will be Saturday Dec 14, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Pine Ridge Elementary School Gym in Pine Ridge, SD, with The Rev. Harold Eagle Bull officiating and traditional services by Mr Benedict Good Buffalo

Graveside Services will be at the Holy Cross Episcopal Cemetery in Pine Ridge

A one-night wake starts Friday, Dec 13, 2019 at 5:00 PM at the Pine Ridge Elementary School Gym in Pine Ridge with a prayer services starting at 7:00 PM.

Antoine “Nebs” Benedict Bissonette “Tate Khii’nyanka Ipa’tanpi” (Race Against Wind) was born September 20, 1958 to Melvin Bissonette and Annie (Chase in Morning)- Bissonette in Pine Ridge, SD.  Antoine made his journey to the spirit world on December 7, 2019 at Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD.

An alumnus from Pine Ridge High School, Antoine was a proud Thorpe and his accomplishments spoke clearly of this. An all-around athlete, He ran cross country, track, played football and his love, basketball. His graduating year of 1977, he received the Jim Thorpe award. He went on to play basketball throughout the rest of his life, participating in many tournaments. The last time he played basketball, he was 60 years old.

The second youngest to 8 boys and one girl, Antoine is survived by his two sons, Antoine Bissonette Jr. and Beau Bissonette: Daughters, Samantha Bissonette and Jennilee Bissonette-Rooks (Damon Rooks); Brothers, Albert Whiting ( Minnesota), Douglas Bissonette (Pine Ridge, SD), Duane Bissonette (Vernida), Kirtland, NM; Grandchildren, Zintkala Anpo Win, Tingleska Win, Savannah, Antoine III, Tatanka Wicahca, Loki Jon, and Canku Ota.

Antoine was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Bissonette and Annie Chase in Morning-Bissonette; spouse, Eileen Eagle Elk: daughter, Kristi Bissonette; siblings, Dode Bissonette, Pat Bissonette, Mike Bissonette, Diego Bissonette and Carmen Whiting; granddaughter, Leah Bissonette.

Pall Bearers will be: Davey Two Two, Fred Two Two, Bill Morrison, Jeff Whalen, Howard Little Hawk, Reggie Black Elk, Bob Mills, Ron Morrison, Lucky Returns, and Herman White Whirlwind.
